Quasi-gradient sub-diffraction focusing with metamaterial super-oscillatory lenses

Guanghui Yuan, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Abstract

After a brief review on optical super-oscillation work done in CDPT/NTU, I will introduce our recent progress on the quasi-gradient sub-diffraction focusing with metamaterial super-oscillatory lenses, from the design with circulate prolate spheroidal wavefunctions and pattern transfer for FIB fabrication to the experimental characterization of their peculiar focusing behaviours.

Short bio

Dr Yuan received his PhD from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2007. He joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2008 and worked as a Research Fellow in EEE on vector optical beams and metamaterials for super-resolution imaging. Since 2012, he was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow and Project Leader at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT), focusing on optical super-oscillations for far-field super-resolution focusing and imaging. His research interests lie in development of planar optical lenses using plasmonic and dielectric metamaterials for far-field super-resolution imaging applications.
